Stained Glass House Numbers Course
Where: Haliburton School of Art and Design, 297 College Dr, Haliburton, ON K0M 1S0
When: May 5 - 9, 2025. Registration opens March 3rd.

About: It’s a 5-day intensive, beginner-friendly course. In this project-based beginner/intermediate mosaic course, students will design and create a beautiful house number using stained glass on cement board. Students will learn the basics of mosaic design, cutting techniques, as well as using mortar and grout. The finished product is 8” x 13” and ready to stand up to everything that Mother Nature throws at it.

The Ancient Art of Mosaics with a Modern Twist
Where: Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts, 113 Kam Lake Rd, Yellowknife, NT
When: June 6 -8, 2025 June 6: 7-9 pm, June 7 & 8: 10 am-3 pm

About: Students will learn traditional techniques of ungrouted mosaics while using both traditional and contemporary materials. We will cover mosaic design, materials choices and cutting techniques. We will also discuss the importance of andamento or the flow of the mosaic.
Time will be spent allowing each student to try using the hammer and hardie, which are the traditional tools used to cut stone and smalti (the traditional glass used in mosaics).
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and people with some mosaic experience.

Calling all Mosaic Teachers and Speakers!
The Mosaic Artists of Canada (MAC/AMC) is thrilled to announce its 5th Juried National Exhibition, taking place at the Neilson Park Creative Centre in Etobicoke (west end of Toronto, Ontario). The theme for this year’s exhibition is UNITY, running from August 5th to September 21st, 2025.
To enrich the experience, we are offering workshops and artist talks during the exhibition on the following dates :
September 12th, 2025 Artist’s Presentations
September 13th to 14th, 2025 Workshops
Available hours for studio spaces (accommodating 8 to 20 students) are as follows:
Saturday the 13th: 9 to 4:30 workshops
Sunday the 14th : 9 to 4:30 workshops
Please specify your preferred time slot in your proposal.

We invite mosaic artists and teachers to submit their workshop proposals. The MAC/AMC Exhibition Committee is looking for diverse styles and techniques to provide an engaging and educational experience for attendees.

Minimum and Maximum Number of Students
List of Materials and Tools Required/Provided
Specify what will be included.
For out-of-town teachers, list any support needed (tools, materials, etc.).
Age Group of Participants
Skill Level of Class (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
Cost Per Student in Canadian funds
MAC/AMC will add a 30% fee to cover studio rental, advertising, and registration.
Teaching Language
Workshop Duration (Half day, full day, or two days)

The MAC/AMC Exhibition Committee will review all submissions and notify selected instructors and speakers by the above date.
What MAC Offers:
● Studio Space at Neilson Park Creative Centre
● Registration Handling: Students pay a 50% deposit, and MAC/AMC will pay instructors directly.(for workshops only)
● Advertising: Workshops and Artist Talks will be promoted on the MAC/AMC website and social media platforms.
● Support: Bilingual (French/English) assistance during workshops if required.
